We believe there is
an extreme shortage of healthy, hardy, breeding age meat breed
female goats in the United States. With goat meat demand
exploding, we feel many goat ranchers aren't being selective enough
in culling, or deliberate enough in breed selection for climate
conditions. At the end of the day, this results in a flood of
animals on the market that are "high maintenance" and a "good
riddance".
At TCF, we buy
hundreds of commercial does per year, but only a small percentage of
those animals will make the cut for breeding or resale. We
focus on performance traits that make goats low maintenance and
profitable.
